Two sets of initials should concern the English: they are UK and BME (Black & Minority Ethnic). The former because it is extensively used instead of the name 'England', the latter because it excludes the white English. Yes, BME includes white Irish, Scottish and Welsh people and anyone Black, but the one racial group excluded ~ the largest single group in the YooKay ~ is the white English, even in our own land. So much for anti- or non-discrimination!

In reality, discrimination against the English is practised on an industrial scale. It seems imprudent, even naive, to discount the possibility that the British Government, aided and abetted by representatives of Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, seeks both to eradicate the English as a group and England as a nation.

It seems inescapable to conclude that the political establishment are scared of the English.

They are scared that we will wake up and demand the same devolution as Scotland and Wales, that we will demand our tax money be kept to ourselves and that we will kick out their politicians. So scared that, unlike Great Britain's other nations, we are denied any constitutional identity, and denied a referendum on the question of whether we, the English, want a separate parliament for England.

We are refused recognition of an English national anthem for our sports teams and use of the English Cross of St George flag is restricted to an extent not replicated in the other of Britain's nations.

More practically, free prescription, free care for the elderly, no tuition fees, just some of the benefits enjoyed by the other home nations but denied to us.

We found ourselves in a position where we were ruled by a Prime Minister whom no English Voter voted for. Even he was (is) barred from voting on devolved issues in Scotland yet can party to imposing laws on us. Even now, massive cuts in expenditure on and radical changes to England's Education and Health services are being inflicted by the British Government, whilst Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are permitted to conduct their own affairs.

Celebrating England

St George's day has gained in popularity over the last ten years or so, probably thanks to devolution in the other home countries but it still has a way to go, the forum carries news of activities and events for the day so keep yourself up to date here!

Celebrating Sport

It is great to support our teams but lets not make that the only time when we feel we can show the flag, as the poster(from the England Store) says:

The flag is for life not just for football

Claiming the flag back from the far right

If ever there is a tired phrase trotted out with monotonous regularity by the press it is this one.

The far right have never owned the English flag nor for that matter has anyone else. The Cross of St George has been around since the 13th Century it represents all the people of this nation and always has done.

It's symbolism is not 'far right' but simply an expression of who we are. Nor is it exclusionary as St George is celebrated in Islam as well as Christianity, he is celebrated all over the world and his flag is used by other countries and regions. The former Russian republic of Georgia is named in his honour.

So the Cross of St George is a truly inclusive statement of England and Englishness, whilst the same cannot be said of the politically motivated Union Flag (a.k.a. the Union Jack).
